The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car You're Hoping For
It was previously announced that The Simpsons was collaborating with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, whether players will truly desire to equip it is another question, as there's only one Springfield vehicle the community is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this isn't it.
The Dream Vehicle
While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer designed himself in the 1991 installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty truck featured in season 10. Rather, players will obtain the Simpsons' standard beat-up sedan, which they've been driving since 1989. Though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it remains an iconic element of the show. And for players who pay attention to the game's car hitboxes, the Simpson family car uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car
But that's not the sole customization item from the show coming to Rocket League. The event will also include a set of objectives to unlock additional rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a press release, the challenges will require players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to the Simpson residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of acquiring the ideal pastries!"
While the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:
- Blinky antenna topper
- Homer's Hedges player banner
- Garbage-themed wheels
- 20,000 XP per challenge
If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also get wheels featuring a television showing the show's opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
The Rocket League collaboration lines up with the major Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a completely new playable area of the fictional town, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration begins on November 1st and ends on November 17th.
