BF6 Gamers Are Convinced: Tasks Are Way Too Hard

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, in spite of its success, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.

Players have started turning to custom matches set up using Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how grueling these challenges have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Assignments

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. It features four types of assignments, but while the majority only reward skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the only way of obtaining 12 of the 41 key firearms present in the game.

A number of these restricted firearms might eventually find their way on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. A particular gamer pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This task is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and only works at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you want to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

Another Reddit user pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and perhaps an additional option if you're lucky if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.

The Bypass

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

Yet, if tackling the tasks in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for finishing these in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.

For now, the player base continues to express their views on these demanding in-game tasks, hoping for a fairer overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
